A former owner of two iconic nightspots conducts the 2-hour workshop. The curriculum is based on his 20-years of experience in running an acclaimed security staff, research studies and input from insurance professionals, hospitality litigators, and alcohol regulators.
“I was first trained with the practices shared in his teachings when I led the twenty-person security department for Gregg at the Shark Club. During my 5+ years employed by Gregg, these principles allowed me, as well as the club, to avoid civil and criminal penalties that occur all too frequently in nightclubs and bars . These penalties could potentially arise from numerous violations such as allowing minors entrance, over-serving alcohol, and ineffective conflict resolution with intoxicated patrons (e.g., an arrest for battery and/or a lawsuit).
I transitioned from security and subsequently worked as a California police officer in an inner-city district, which had a high propensity for violence. As well as being a field training officer for fifteen years, I eventually taught at a regional police academy, where similar prevention-oriented practices I first learned from Gregg are part of the curriculum. I have trained approximately 700 recruits and many of them have attained the rank of sergeant and lieutenant. I strongly encourage security professionals to attend the Security Workshop to further their knowledge of their chosen field or as an aid in their transition to law enforcement."
